Lebohang Kali and Motsieloa Malete are the proud owners of the Ficksburg information Technology Centre, that was established in 2012. The two entrepreneurs have become role models for all those interested in establishing a techno enterprise. Since the launch of the Ficksburg ITC, Lebogang and Motsieloa have shown dedication and commitment to turn the centre into a successful enterprise.
In 2012, after ten months of operations, the centre won the local municipality award within the category of Young Community Developers of the Year 2013 – Education.
In the words of Lebogang Kali: “I have learned that as a person, you have to believe in yourself. We never expected to win an award after only 10 months of operating. Now we are named Young Community Developers of the Year 2013.”
The award was in recognition of the entrepreneurs’ contribution to community development. By offering ICT skills training, they increase the job opportunities of their trainees and thereby contribute to the upliftment of their community. The two entrepreneurs have also incorporated Social Responsibility activities in their communities and this, in turn, benefits their business.
Lebogang and Motsieloa explain that the experience has been a huge confidence boost and has given them even more motivation to run their business. The municipality funded the training of 56 youth in the Ficksburg area in the first quarter of 2014. The centre has trained 194 trainees since its establishment, and makes an average income of R7 500 per month.
