Chairperson – Adam Essa
Adam Essa is the Founder of Coessa Holdings, a prominent black-owned Cape based property developer. Adam is responsible for a number of large and medium scale projects, including the ‘Icon’ project in the Cape Town CBD, R400 million high-rise mixed use complex, on the site of the old power station, near the convention center. He has been in property development for 10 years, and prior to that founded and owned an IT services business, still held by his family. Adam is the lead developer in the District Six redevelopment project, one of a handful of presidential restitution projects and is currently busy with phase two, consisting of 100 dwellings. He founded Claremont Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Adam serves as a Director of Claremont Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Coessa Holdings.
Margie Worthington-Smith has spent her working life involved in the establishment and management of initiatives that develop South Africans to be more entrepreneurial in their mindset and practice. Currently she is sharing her expertise and experiences by consulting in this field. Besides her professional education qualifications from UCT Margie is also a Senior Enterprise Fellow at the University of Essex. She has served on a number of boards and is currently doing so for the Activate Leadership initiative and the South African Institute for Entrepreneurship which she founded in 1996. Margie’s philosophy is that all people are conceived having great potential and that with the combination of good nurturing, great education, strategic connections, a resourceful mindset and a caring person (or people) who sees this potential – they can live incredible significant lives which will in turn create great families and a wonderful society. Margie’s time is spent contributing to this possibility.
Saadiq Mathews is the co-founder and current MD of Skygrids, a newly established company providing wireless MESH technology solutions. Director of uniQco Holdings (Pty) Ltd a company recently established for investments into different business sectors that compliments his expertise and started initially through his consulting business established on 1 May 2011, through which he consults in his personal capacity across different sectors representing different companies. Areas of consulting covers general business consulting, Road Safety, Energy, IT , Import/Export, Development, Mesh networking Previously Saadiq worked in the Electronic/ technology/ICT environment for approx. 28 years in various roles with Plessey and later Tellumat, ranging from Technologist, Project Management, Programme Management, Manaufacturing Management, Business development etc to being founder and MD of an outsource Call Centre, TellCiS (Syntell Business Solutions) and executive director/divisional MD of Syntell Road Safety division through a management buyout from Tellumat in 2003. He has have over the past years operated at a senior level liaising with several government departments across the country looking at road safety/traffic technological initiatives/solutions and have successfully implemented several successful contracts including establishing the international market for Syntell.
Vuyiswa has senior management experience gained in the private and public sectors, as well as extensive Organisational Development, Human Resource Management, Health Service Planning and Public Relations experience. She demonstrates excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Her expertise ranges from policy development and organisational evaluations to restructuring and strategic planning.
