Entreprenometer

So you want to know how entrepreneurial you are? That's understandable. As human beings we like to measure ourselves. You take out a tape measure to find out how tall you are. It's only natural you should like to know how entrepreneurial you are.

But there are some big differences between measuring height and measuring entrepreneurial potential. For one thing, there's a definite standard for measuring height. We can use millimetres, centimetres, metres or even inches. But with entrepreneurial potential there's no universally-accepted standard. We can't say that you're 0.79 Bransons or 0.82 Rockefellers. We can't even say you scored 58 Entrepreneuros. There's no such thing! So that's our first challenge.

Another big difference is that if we measure your height today and we measure it again a year from now, we're not likely to find a big difference, especially if you're older than 18. But if we measure your entrepreneurial potential today, and we measure it again a year from now, it's quite possible that we might find your score has doubled. How is that possible?

Entrepreneurial potential measures a mix of some of your attitudes and values. And, for the most part, your attitudes and values are matters of experience, learning, training and choice. Entrepreneurial potential is like swimming potential. You might be a poor swimmer today, but with enthusiasm, perseverance and exercise you could double your swimming speed in less than a year.

So click through our Entreprenometer with a healthy dose of scepticism and a dash of irreverence. Treat the result for what it is, nothing more than a snapshot of some of your attitudes today. Come back a year from now with a great success story that shows your score was hopelessly underestimated. We'd love to be proved wrong!
