Movers Map: Life Skills Training

What is the Movers Map?

Movers Map is a guide to assist you with making moves in your life, moves that can make a positive impact and moves that can significantly increase your ability to create opportunity.

The Movers Map uses self analysis to diagnose where you have blocks in your lives, blocks that are preventing you from making moves. These blocks could include a number of factors like family, education, attitude etc.

The Movers Map assists in identifying these blocks and then through a process of taking small steps, or as we like to call them Micro Moves, individuals make their first moves at overcoming these challenges.

The Movers Map is a process and has tangible actions and activities that guide participants to making breakthroughs in their own lives, one step at a time.

The result of using the Movers Map is the development of skills and attitudes that help you make moves, moves that can improve your life, moves that can shape your future and moves that can help you overcome any challenge.

The Movers Map consists of the following key elements

Self Analysis Questionnaire
This explores where you stand in relation to 72 life measures. These life measures are a very important part of a persons make up, especially their ability to make moves and develop themselves.

The life measures provide insight into a multitude of life aspects and provide a great platform for young people to focus on their strengths and weaknesses.

Movers Quotient (MQ)
Each question in the self analysis provides a score, which when added together provides a total known as the Movers Quotient or MQ. The MQ is the measure of the propensity or ability for an individual to make moves. The higher your MQ, the more likely you are to make moves and the easier you will find it to make moves. The lower your score, the less likely you will be able to make moves

Micro Moves
For every section of the questionnaire, there is a sample Micro Move that can be used to improve your MQ score for that section. This means that for all your weaker areas, there is an activity that you can engage in that can assist you in overcoming the challenge and making a move to improving yourself and your circumstances. These Micro Moves provide traction in young people’s lives and are used to impact on a change in attitude. By making moves here, individuals get to see the impact of the moves they make and how they affect their lives, but most importantly how Micro Moves help build confidence and increase the ability for everyone in taking

Mega Moves
These activities are built around taking on more complex and challenging moves that require a more significant investment of time and focus. These moves really stretch you and provide small projects that can lay the foundation from much greater opportunities to come.

Overall Outcomes of the Movers Map

Once a participant has mastered the Movers Map and the Micro Moves/Mega Moves they will be in a much better position to navigate life and create for themselves a much richer opportunity horizon.
