ACCREDITATION

ETDP SETA ACCREDITATION

SAIE was accredited as a service provider by the ETDP SETA on 01 May 2003. Our accreditation number is ETDP1515.

SAIE provides training to educators and facilitators to facilitate learning in entrepreneurship. The training programme is accredited by the EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES (ETDP) SETA under unit standard US 117870, titled Conduct Targeted Training and Development Using Given Methodologies. The unit standard carries 10 credits and is registered on the NATIONAL QUALIFATIONS FRAMEWORK (NQF) LEVEL 4.

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

“The unit standard will provide recognition for those who conduct or intend to conduct targeted training and development using given methodologies, including group training, group facilitation and presentations. Formal recognition will enhance their employability and also provide a means to identify competent trainers. This unit standard will be useful to people who are involved in identifying and providing structured and targeted skills development opportunities in the workplace with individuals and groups.”

“People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Plan and prepare for training and development;
  • Deliver presentation for training and development purposes;
  • Deliver group training sessions;
  • Facilitate group learning activities; and
  • Review training.”

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

“The credit calculation is based on the assumption that learners are already competent in the learning area in which they will provide training.”

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be certified in the unit standard, educators and facilitators need to fulfill a set of requirements. These requirements are:

  • Provide SAIE with required documentation including copy of ID, CV, copies of certificates, copies of testimonials, etc., for RPL purposes;
  • Attend a two-day training course;
  • Implement the programme in the classroom (educators) or field (facilitators);
  • Attend two one-day follow-up support courses;
  • Complete a written assignment;
  • Complete a knowledge test;
  • Indicate to SAIE readiness to be assessed;
  • Be assessed by the SAIE appointed assessor.

Candidates who complete the requirements and are found to be competent, will be certified in the unit standard. The candidate must then personally verify with the ETDP Seta that he/she is registered on their database.
