Project details

Partner(s):

The purpose of JASA is to prepare young people for life after school by raising their awareness of economic issues, teaching them entrepreneurial and life skills, providing them with an understanding of the business world and enhancing their sense of personal responsibility through practical business experience. By contributing to their personal growth, it improves the employability and business capacity of young people. To this end, the key focus areas of JASA remain entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy and workplace readiness. Supported by Junior Achievement Worldwide, JASA is a nationwide, autonomous, non-profit organisation operating in all nine provinces.

Our Involvement:

Founded 13 years ago with a strong vision for developing innovative learning materials to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset, the Institute has shown an impact in three main areas – in schools, among unemployed adults, and among subsistence farmers. The flagship product developed by SAIE introduces unemployed persons with minimal functional literacy and numeracy skills to the basic principles of business. Known as the BEST game, it has been used well beyond the borders of South Africa, reaching into 75 countries and being translated into more than 15 languages. It has been adopted by the International Labour Organisation, and is being used as the tool of choice to introduce rural Chinese

Business VENTURES is a series of entrepreneurship learning resources for grades 2-12. Each of the modules provides all the materials required to facilitate and learn about entrepreneurship and business during one year.
