The University of Arizona is a premier, student-centered research institution. Established in 1885 as the first university in the Arizona Territory and the state's only land grant institution, the UA embraces its three-fold mission of excellence in teaching, research and public service. Now in its second century of service to the state, the UA has become one of the nation's top 20 public research institutions. It is one of only 62 members in the Association of American Universities, a prestigious organization that recognizes universities with exceptionally strong research and academic programs. With world class faculty in fields as diverse as astronomy, plant science, biomedical science, business, law, music and dance, The University of Arizona offers a rewarding educational experience to all who choose to focus on excellence.

Our Involvement:

SAIE’s offers both Internship and Learnership opportunities to students from different universities and colleges from any part of the world. Our portfolio of past internships includes student from New York and Arizona in the USDA as well as Wits University and Tsiba College. Depending on the competencies of each student, they are assigned to specific staff members who give them an induction and work with them throughout the duration of the entire period. Students enjoy a rich learning environment and have the opportunity to ask questions and take part in the company’s activities across the board from office work to field visits. Laura Gelinas, A Business Student from Arizona University (Tucson), specialized in Management Information Systems at SAIE.

Project Progress:

Laura grasped the MIS at an extraordinary rate and within 3 days she was operating on the system by herself. Laura also expressed a keen interest in understanding our business process. As a result she was able to highlight some aspects of the pre-defined MIS business process that needed attention. Laura also managed to create her own internship business process which has been adopted as a standard logic for all upcoming interns. Laura took a proactive approach and made it clear that by the time she leaves, she wanted to learn something concrete. Because she communicated her future visions in business studies, it was easy to assist her.

Learnership and Internship Programme

In line with South Africa's skills development strategy, and also as a way of utilizing the facilities available to firms to recruit learners and interns, SAIE has developed a Learnership and Internship Program. Interns are taken from South African and foreign Universities and they are attached to SAIE for a period varying from one month to 12 months. SAIE's Internship and Learnership Program bridges the gap between a student’s theoretical college education and the world of work, giving the student both work experience and practical, tangible skills ranging from organisational administration and project management, monitoring and evaluation, fieldwork, research and electronic management systems (Management Information Systems)
