Partner(s):Schweizer-Reneke, sometimes referred to as "Schweizer" is a town with a population of 73,300 in the North West Province of South Africa. It is the administrative centre of Mamusa Local Municipality. The principal crops of the region around Schweizer-Reneke are mainly maize, sorghum, groundnuts and sunflower seeds. In addition, cattle and sheep farming is practiced in the region on a relatively large scale on the grasslands where the soil is unsuitable for cultivation. Schweizer-Reneke is rich in diamond deposits. This led to large scale private diamond mining in the area.The town has a public secondary school, Hoërskool Schweizer Reneke, hosting some 180 students. Our Involvement:SAIE's Welcome World programme focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills in the tourism sector. The programme comprises role plays and breakaway sessions. The role plays set up situations that are commonly experienced by tourists. The breakaway sessions take participants through the tourism journey. The improves entrepreneurship mindset change for the participants and aims to improve: • Dealing with a wide range of tricky customer (tourist) situations in a safe environment • Building confidence to interact with tourists effectively • Lifting tourism service provider interaction skills to another level • Expanding knowledge and the ability to provide great service to tourists • Building confident national ambassadors Project Progress:The training will take place on 17th September 2010. |
