Siyazigabisa

Project details

Partner(s):

Siyazigabisa Home of Hope is located in Tembisa where they look after orphaned and abandoned children from within and around Tembisa. Since inception, Siyazigabisa has expanded to include large premises providing working space for income generating projects under the auspices of Siyazigabisa. These projects consist of two elements: a clothing and sewing project for elderly women in the area and a beadwork project for young women, also from within and around Tembisa.

Our Involvement:

A request was made to SAIE to equip the women working in Siyazigabisa projects with basic business skills as well as empower them to develop their own business plans with a view to developing their own road-map for collective and individual businesses. There are 24 beneficiaries in this Microplan project.

Project Progress:

Siyazigabisa Home of Hope took place from the 12th - 17th of February 2007. In a needs assessment conducted on the first day of training, it emerged that all participants had secondary education. Eleven women had limited mathematical skills and simulations, which proved to be highly effective, had to be used to assist the women’s progress. Participants were encouraged to develop their own business plans with the newly acquired knowledge. The second part of the training took place in March 2007.
