Our Involvement:

SAIE provides schools and educators with quality, innovative learning materials (BusinessVENTURES kits) and the requisite training in terms of content knowledge, methodology in Outcomes Based Education (OBE) and entrepreneurial development. SAIE’s BusinessVENTURES materials conform to the Department of Education’s (DoE) curriculum structure classified under the Economic and Management Sciences (EMS: Grade 2 to 9) and Business Studies (Grades 10 to 12). Learners are empowered through the quality materials and effective teaching, in order to develop entrepreneurial mindsets and business knowledge. This prepares them for either creating their own jobs or participating in the post school life in a more entrepreneurial way.

Project Progress:

On the 13 of August 2007, eight grade 10 educators from eight schools attended the training at Tongaat secondary school and eight kits were distributed. Most educators agreed that the work cards were more relevant for the curriculum, interactive, precise and fun. Training for grades 8 and 9 took place on 2 and 3 August again at Tongaart Secondary School. On 2 August, ten educators from 9 schools attended training and twelve kits were distributed. On the 3rd of August, 13 educators from 9 schools attended training. Educators expressed the view that cards were fun and more easily understood in context than textbooks.
