Partner(s):‘Welcome World' was developed in partnership with SAA and interaction with a community based tourism organisation called Isithumba. Isithumba was created in the 1000 hills area of KZN to encourage tourists to visit the area and benefit from a rich local cultural experience. The centre provides accommodation, conference services as well as a wide range of traditional experiences from historic walks, village experiences, craft, ceremonies, dancing and storytelling. Isithumba was a great help to the Wings of Welcome development team, as it provided a vibrant environment to test and improve game components that ultimately maximised the simulation power of the training platform. Our Involvement:SAIE managed the development team and managed the project, making sure all development work met the objectives of the project and the core need areas identified. Project Progress:The ‘Welcome World’ project is complete and is already being used in a number of tourism organisations countrywide including Isithumba, KZN Tourism, Cape Tourism and Stellenbosch Tourism. It has also received rave reviews from a number of tourism offices countrywide. |
