As a responsible institute, SAIE is always focused on driving positive change in the sectors that contribute the most to the South African economy. SAIE monitors its work and sets key performance indicators (KPIs) according to each focus area.
The purpose of these KPIs is to improve our programmes and practices, stay accountable to our funding partners, and determine the full impact of our interventions.
Through these programmes, we have empowered countless learners and teachers by providing entrepreneurial materials to facilitate learning.
Through these programmes, some rural schools reached an average of above 90%.
Since the programme’s introduction in 1997, we have reached 615,805 learners, 17,895 educators and 5,870 schools.
Agri Planner and Agri-Business Programmes
With a prime focus on improving the agricultural sector, these twin programmes have helped many farmers and entrepreneurs.
Ever since their initiation in 2004, over 5100 farmers have been capacitated and supported through these programmes.
Most of these farmers became micro-Agri-entrepreneurs and helped generate a consistent income to support themselves and the community.
These programmes focus on prime focus on the development of IT skills or necessary business skills for start-up owners or potential future entrepreneurs.
Thanks to these programmes, 11 technology centres are operational. These centres teach practical ICT skills to young unemployed people in a 3-month training program.
The track record shows that there is a 55% success rate.
New Venture Creation Programme was introduced to ensure high success rates of ventures. The programme has been instrumental in driving the necessary change for entrepreneurs. The programme has started to gain traction in the upcoming years.
In 2017, 65% of 66 unemployed learners who became a part of this programme started their own ventures 2017.
In 2018, 30 learners enrolled and completed their graduate programme.
Recently, out of 71 unemployed learners who enrolled, 47 learners completed the programme, and 31 graduates started their own businesses.
Our Enterprise Development Programmes cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset using business skills and Business Simulation (BEST) Simulator. This simulation-based learning has been substantial in imparting useful knowledge to potential entrepreneurs and visionaries.
Ever since its introduction, the programme has facilitated over 35,750 beneficiaries.
The BEST Simulator has been adopted by International Labour Organization.
The simulator has been adopted in 75 countries and has been translated into 15 languages.
